About White City

White City, Saskatchewan is a Village located just East of the City of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The population is currently just under 6000 people.; Although it is located only a few kilometers East of Regina, the weather in the Village is consistently different from that observed in the City.; City readings are taken at the Regina Airport, located on the far West of the City.; This is almost 50 kilometers away from the Village of White City. Regina is typically colder than White City by a few degrees because it is located within the Wascana Basin, which tends to trap colder air..

The geography of the area around White City is unique. Whereas the City of Regina is located in the Wascana Basin (a glacial lake bottom), White City and surrounding area is located in a region of stabilized sand dunes located on the ancient shoreline of that glacial lake. As such, the soils are almost pure sand, with some paleosol (ancient soils developed from wind blown loess and organic matter). This contrasts heavily with the blue clay gumbo common in most of the Wascana Basin (City of Regina). Meteorologically, the area of White City / Emerald Park has temperature and precipitation regimes more typical of that seen from Moose Jaw, rather than the City of Regina. Similarly, due to the exposed nature of the area (mean height above sea level averages 50 to 100' higher than within the Wascana Basin) the region experiences higher winds and apparent wind chill readings.

Saskatchewan is a Province within Canada.
